Stav Shaffir

Stav Shaffir is a social activist, who became one of the leaders of the Israeli social movement that brought hundreds of thousands of Israelis into the streets in the summer of 2011. Stav then ran for a position on Israel’s Labour Party list, and was elected in a nation-wide primary. At 27, she became the youngest member of the Israeli Parliament, where she pushed for budgetary transparency, exposed the government's secret money transfers, and fought to end corrupt usage of tax-payer money. Two years later, Stav won the second seat on her party list, and served as a member of the Finance Committee. She also co-chaired the caucus for sustainable cities and for social justice. Stav has been featured in Maariv’s 50 Most Influential Women; Forbes’ 30 Under 30; Apolitical’s The World’s Most Influential Young People in Government. She was also selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
